Got these two recommendations via Plurk. One’s an iPhone-related website and the other, a Mac application.

FreeAppAlert.com notifies iPhone or iPod touch users when a paid app becomes free. Notifications are sent via Twitter, Facebook or RSS.

If I hadn’t gotten the story about Carina Software’s free iPhone astronomy apps on TUAW then FreeAppAlert would’ve been the right place to find the free-for-a-limited-time-only SkyVoyager and SkyGazer apps. Not all paid apps turned free are as useful as these two but there’s no harm in checking out the site every now and then. I have AppMiner on my iPod touch but it’s a bit buggy that’s why I don’t use it often.

Many Tricks’ Name Mangler is a batch file renaming software that can do a lot of common renaming tasks such as finding and replacing, number sequencing, changing case, setting extensions; adding prefixes or suffixes and remove or inserting characters. Other extra features include conditional statements and nested counters. Name mangler was used to rename 25,000 files. It did take a few hours to do it.

Name Mangler is donationware.
