Zune HD for pre-order, hit stores September 15

Microsoft’s Zune HD is scheduled to hit store shelves on September 15 and is already available for pre-order. The 16GB Zune HD is selling at $219.99 and the 32GB model at $289.99. The pricing is seen as an attempt by Microsoft to undercut Apple’s iPod touch.

iPhone, iPod touch sales soar as traditional iPods sale declines

Apple’s fiscal third quarter 2009 saw the decline of iPod sales from 11 million units to 10.2 million year-over-year.
Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s chief financial officer, said that the decline was due to consumers losing interest in what they call ‘traditional MP3 players’ and the iPhone platform was created in anticipation to this.

Updates: iTunes 8.2, Quicktime 7.6.2, iPod shuffle, etc

Apple released an update to iTunes and Quicktime today.
AppleInsider reported that iTunes 8.2 will support iPhones and iPod touches running the iPhone OS 3.0 which is scheduled to be released this month. It also includes “everal accessibility improvements and bug fixes.”
