TUAW has a list of things to do and things not to do when visiting or moving to another country when it comes to your electronic devices’ power needs. Below is a summary of the dos and don’ts. I highly recommend that you check out TUAW for more information on each item.

  • Do check the voltage, frequency, and plug type of the country you’re visiting before you leave.
  • Do check your power adapter for its acceptable range of voltages and frequencies.
  • Do shop for plug adapters before you travel.
  • Do remember that “plug adapter” is not equal to “voltage converter”.
  • Do buy a voltage converter if your device’s power adapter isn’t universal voltage.
  • Don’t buy the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit if you need multiple plug adapters for just one country.
  • Don’t forget about wattage if you need to buy a voltage converter.
  • Don’t buy power adapters from travel shops. The price markup is insane.

I’ve never been out of the country but I’m glad I found this list. This might prove useful one day, especially the world electric guide.
