This is a follow-up on my post about the Late-2009 iMacs, particularly the high-end 27-inch systems.

Electronista just published their Core i5 27-inch iMac review and their benchmarks show that the Core i5 iMac is almost 50% faster than the 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 24-inch iMac with 3GB of RAM and a Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card. But that’s with just one core active. When all four cores were gunning, the 27-inch iMac performed more than 2.5 times faster the 24-inch iMac.
The review also talked about the huge, gorgeous display (who couldn’t?) and how it could display two full webpages side-by-side with enough room for a chat window. This is due to the fact that the 27-inch display actually contains the same amount of pixels that the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display has: 2560×1440 pixels. Other 27-inch LCD displays only have a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, and made out of lower quality LCD panel.
Here’s something I just found out: the back of the new iMacs are made out of aluminum, and aside from making the iMac look better and more uniform, the all-aluminum back also helps dissipate heat by acting as one huge heat sink.

Read the review here to know more about the Core i5 iMac’s performance, display and other features.
On a different story, MacDailyNews readers Eric and Alicia L. shared unboxing photos of their new Core i7 27-inch iMac. Eric L. noted in one of the photos that he wasn’t able to get the wireless keyboard with the iMac; he instead got the wired Apple keyboard with a numeric keypad. He went to an Apple Retail Store where he was unsuccessful in getting the keyboard swapped. But a call to the Online Apple Store got him his wireless keyboard for free without having to return the other keyboard. How’s that for service? Check out MacDailyNews for the unboxing photos.

Apple, Inc. already said that they will no longer be appearing at Macworld or any other trade shows for that matter. I reckon they feel they have enough clout and mindshare that they can have their own show and people will eagerly anticipate it. Take the January 27th event, for example…
