Apple just released Performance Update 1.0 which will address intermittent hard drive-related stalls reported by a small number of customers. Affected systems include:

  • MacBook Air (Late 2008, Mid 2009)
  • 13-inch MacBook (Early and Mid 2009)
  • 13-inch MacBook (Aluminum, Late 2008)
  • 13-inch MacBook Pro (Mid 2009)
  • 15-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2008, Mid 2009)
  • 15-inch MacBook Pro (2.53GHz, Mid 2009)
  • 17-inch MacBook Pro (Early and Mid 2009)
  • iMac (Early and Mid 2009)
  • iMac (24-inch, Early 2009)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009)

Separate downloads are available for Leopard (322KB) and Snow Leopard (300KB) users.

An Apple knowledge-based article has instructions on how to apply Performance Update 1.0 on Intel-based Macs.

I’ve already applied the update. It was quick and easy and it only took less than five minutes.
