Macworld reported that game developer, Mad Monkey Studio, has announced plans to develop for the iPhone but only for the iPhone 3GS.
In a press release issued August 7, Mad Monkey Studio said:
Thanks to Apple’s iPhone 3GS incredible 3D performance, Mad Monkey Studio™ announces it will develop games exclusively on the 3GS as it can now be considered the fastest mobile console available. As shown in the linked video, 3GS is up to four times faster than iPhone 3G. iPhone 3GS also supports advanced shaders and Mad Monkey Studio™ plans to use the shading capabilities to their full extent to create visually innovative games.
Mad Monkey Studio will make an announcement about their first iPhone 3GS game in the coming weeks.
It’s not the first time developers have lauded the real gaming potential of the iPhone. An AppleInsider article quoted one developer as saying:
…keep in mind that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even.
