Apple has released iPhone OS 3.0.1 which fixes an SMS vulnerability in the iPhone.
There was much brouhaha about this vulnerability as it allows a hacker to send one unusual character or a series of “invisible” messages via SMS which then allows the hacker to control the iPhone, including sending the same malicious message to all of the contacts in the hacked iPhone.
This patch was predicted to come out this weekend by O2, Apple’s iPhone carrier in the UK.
This update is compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS, and is a 300MB download.
