After launching four new iTunes Music Stores, Apple announced in a press statement that iTMS has sold more than 400 million songs. This is after surpassing the 350 millionth mark last month.

The Register reports that with the addition of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland it brings the total of iTunes Music Stores to nineteen. iTMS Japan and Australia are still in the works. Australia was supposed to have its iTMS last week but was delayed.

The Register also reckons that the total number of downloads in iTMS could reach 870 million by year’s end and two billion by April 2006.

On a related news, Apple released iTunes version 4.8 yesterday. It allows users to view video in iTunes, and for TIger users, sync contacts and calendar.
