In a previous post, I said that the only way for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger users to upgrade to Snow Leopard was to purchase the ₱9,490 Mac Box Set. That’s not the case anymore. It now seems that Tiger users can purchase the ₱1,690 single-user Snow Leopard disc to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6. According to Walt Mossberg:
Apple concedes that the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade will work properly on these Tiger-equipped Macs, so you can save the extra $140.
There you have it. Those who are still using Mac OS X 10.4, can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for only ₱1,690, saving an extra ₱7,800. But remember, you need to have an Intel-based Mac to run Snow Leopard. Mac OS X 10.6 doesn’t support PowerPC Macs.
I don’t think this is cheating considering Apple already acknowledge this fact.

So what you are saying is that if I have a MacBook Pro (purchased in April 2007) with Intel duo processor running Tiger os x 10.4.11 I can use the 29 dollar snow leopard upgrade with no problem? Am I reading this correctly?

According to what I’ve read from various sources, you can indeed use the Snow Leopard upgrade without any problems.

Has anyone or do you know of anyone who has really tested this path?
Otherwise, it’s costlier if you need to get Mac Box set on top of 1,690 single-user Snow Leopard upgrade.

From what I’ve read from Walt Mossberg and the rest, upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard is doable.
