Two weeks after the release of iTunes 9, Apple has released an update to their media player and manager that brings fixes to issues such as iTunes Store browsing and podcasts syncing.

According to the support document, iTunes 9.0.1 provides a number of important bug fixes, including:
- Resolves issues browsing the iTunes Store.
- Addresses a performance issue where iTunes may become unresponsive.
- Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit.
- Fixes a problem syncing Podcasts in playlists to iPod or iPhone.
- Fixes a problem sorting albums with multiple discs.
- Addresses an issue with the Zoom button not switching to Mini Player.
- Improves application syncing for iPod touch and iPhone.
- Genius is now automatically updated to show Genius Mixes.
The update is available via Software Update preference or directly from Apple’s iPod+iTunes page. File size is between 83MB to 88MB for either Mac and Windows versions. A 64-bit version for Windows is also available (88.8 MB)
Rob Griffiths over a Macworld has pointed out that Apple has restored the ‘maximize’ button behavior to the pre-iTunes version 9 days on this update. The maximize button is the green candy button at the upper left corner of the iTunes window. Before iTunes 9.0, clicking on that button caused it to go into Mini Player mode. In iTunes 9.0 the maximize button instead caused the window to err… maximize. Switching to the mini player mode required pressing the option key and clicking on the green candy button.
Perhaps Apple got a lot of flak for the change in behavior because iTunes 9.0.1 ‘fixes’ the issue. Clicking the maximize button once again brings up the Mini Player window while option + green button causes the iTunes window to maximize. Hooray, Apple.
Apple also released updates to the their Logic Pro, Logic Express, and Main Stage apps. Logic Pro 9.0.1 and Logic Express 9.0.1 improve overall stability and provide numerous fixes and enhancements and are recommended for all users of Logic Pro 9 or Logic Express 9. Issues addressed include:
- Flex Markers can align & snap to MIDI notes
- Performing a punch-in recording with Replace Mode now behaves correctly
- The I/O plug-in adds an option for latency compensation
Main Stage 2.0.1 improves overall performance and provides numerous fixes and enhancements, including the Loopback and Playback plug-ins. Issues addressed include:
- The Reverse option for Loopback now behaves consistently
- Pitchbend data is transmitted properly to external instruments
- A recording in Loopback can be used to define the tempo for MainStage
- The I/O plug-in is now available in MainStage

Where do you get that Apple provides an API for syncing? They did at one point but that was a hold-over from when iTunes was SoundJam, two years after Apple bought SoundJam, and renamed it the licensing stopped. The last mp3 player to be able to use that API was put out over 6 years ago(2003).
