Hot on the heels of Mac OS X 10.6.4, Apple released an update to their multimedia management application.

With this update, iTunes not only will manage your songs, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and podcasts, it will now manage your PDFs. One of iTunes 9.2′s new feature is organizing and syncing PDF documents as books. PDFs can be read using iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch.

How do you get iBooks on your iPhone or iPod touch? By getting iOS4, of course. But don’t go looking for iOS4 yet. It won’t be released until next week, June 21.

Speaking of iOS4, other improvements to iTunes 9.2 include:

  • Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go
  • Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 and iBooks 1.1
  • Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
  • Album artwork improvements make artwork appear more quickly when exploring your library

You can now also organize your apps on your iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes. This is one of new features in iOS4 that I’ve been highly anticipating. That and Multi-tasking.

The update is available for both Mac and Windows. It’s a 102 MB download for Mac users, while for Windows users, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions come in at around 92 MB.

You can also download the update by using Software Update on your Mac.
