Got this tip from the Angry Mac Bastards podcast episode 20.

I tend to open several tabs on Safari all at once; usually 10 to 30 tabs. Whenever I do that, Safari would slowly grind to a halt and sometimes, eventually crash. There’s also the issue of memory and CPU hogging. It’s probably because of all the Flash that’s running on some of the sites.

clicktoflash

There’s a Safari plug-in called ClickToFlash which basically gets rid of Flash-y things on a website and in it’s place, puts a nice button with the word “Flash”. If you want to view that Flash content, just go ahead and click on the button.

I just installed the plug-in this today and I’m still keeping any eye out for any noticeable improvements. It does mess with Google Analytics since that site is pretty much heavy on Flash but there is an option to whitelist websites. Haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.

Highly recommended for those who hates Flash.
